John is the local member of parliament for Bunbury and is a minister in government. He made an election promise to save the remaining bushland at College Grove that was intended to be cleared for development.

He is currently negotiating a landswap to save this bushland, nearly through now.

Come on John, it's been 2 1/2 years now! Good work though.

  • Possum in tree platform at College Grove...

Common Brushtail Possums were regular nightly visitors to the tree platform. They raided it for food scraps and went through rubbish bags to get it.

The Western Ringtail Possum is a threatened species that also inhabited the bushland there but they were not to be seen in the tree platform as they are a shy species who mainly eat leaves from trees. Perhaps they also have more manners than the Brushtail possums!

    They're so cute, aren't they!

  • Banner drop from Bunbury Cathedral

Activists dressed as preists and nuns carry out a creative action at the base of the still under construction Bunbury Catholic Cathedral in the Bunbury CBD at the end of Victoria Street. Two of the activists dressed as priests, climbed the scaffolding to hang a banner off the top of the cathedral tower, before the spire was in place. The banner read 'Forgive Simcoa for they know not what they do'.

Simcoa is a silicon producer operating near Bunbury and is owned by japanese company Shin-Etsu. Unfortunately, Simcoa refuses to stop burning Jarrah wood that is logged from local native forest. They could burn bluegum wood sourced from plantations but they refuse to do so.
